We count down 10 forgotten British motorcycle names, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and the machines that carried them. Some faded away, some were sold off, and some simply closed their doors. Today most people have never heard of them, and a few have been remembered wrongly.
From the New Hudson Silver Arrow, the Coventry Eagle, and the Norman B3 and B4 to AJW, Ambassador, EMC, Cotton, the Sunbeam S8, the Excelsior Talisman Twin, and the Rudge Ulster, we look at what each name really built, why it vanished, and where the legends do not match the history.
Several claims you may have heard are corrected in this video. There was no 250cc New Hudson Silver Arrow twin. The Coventry Eagle story ended in 1939. The Cotton had superb handling, not a weak frame. And the Excelsior Talisman could keep up with traffic.
Every fact in this video comes from documented history, and where we could not confirm something, we say so.
Number one was fast, admired, and advertised as probably the fastest 500cc motorcycle in production, and it still could not save the company that built it.
