Did you know that at one point, the Louvre drew a record 10.2 million visitors because of the "Mona Lisa" which is more than any museum, ever? It's amazing how this Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece attracts fans around the globe. The painting also inspired American movie songwriters, Ray Evans and Jay Livingston to write the song "Mona Lisa" back in 1949. The song was written for the movie, "Captain Carey, U.S.A." starring Alan Ladd. "Mona Lisa" was the first from a non-musical film to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. The best-loved version was recorded by Nat King Cole in 1950. There are many recordings of this piece from different artists but my favorites are Nat King Cole's and Earl Klugh's versions.
