NA Lotus Elise - 1:51 lap at Laguna Seca - My quickest lap in the Lotus

(No driving sound because all it's all wind noise anyway w/gopro mounted on windscreen.) You know, a lot of people look at the Lotus Elise and say "wow, that looks exotic, it looks so fast!" Then I tell them it has a 4 cylinder Toyota engine with about 200 hp and a confused look washes over their face. But in the right hands (not mine obviously), it actually is fast. Because it weighs nothing. Well not nothing because I mean, everything has weight and it is a car after all. But it doesn't weigh very much. As Lotus founder Colin Chapman famously said "More horsepower will make a car faster on the straights, less weight will make a car faster everywhere." Here is my best lap in my stock Elise, which happened in June 2013!!! Yeah, I still have the car. Yeah, I've taken it to many more trackdays over those years. Yeah, I've gotten slower probably (actually I stopped timing myself for a few years because I just didn't care...I drive at a respectable pace in intermediate and advanced groups, pass some people, get passed by some others. Whatever.) 1:51:71 according to my records though sorry I couldn’t find the data files to overlay with the video (just my driving notes.) So I added a little timer index to the video to show this. For reference, a really well driven stock Elise will do around 1:45 around Laguna. So my time isn’t terrible but there is definitely room for improvement! Stock 2005 Lotus Elise, naturally aspirated, R888 tires, stock suspension, ECU re-flash for lower cam switchover point.
