Vappu is one of Finland’s most beloved celebrations, bursting with color, laughter, and the spirit of spring. Held on May 1st, it combines the traditions of International Workers’ Day with lively student festivities. Across the country, people gather in parks for joyful picnics, wear colorful costumes, and sip on homemade sima while enjoying treats like tippaleipä and doughnuts. Students don their iconic white graduation caps, music fills the air, and cities come alive with parades, speeches, and a cheerful, carefree atmosphere. Vappu is a unique blend of cultural pride, youthful energy, and the shared joy of welcoming the warmer days ahead, join the Aalto Student community in the declaration of Wappu Rowdiness for May 2025.
