At 55, I Left Canada for Mexico — 6 Months Later

At 55, I sold my home in Canada, packed up my Ford Escape and started driving south with my dog, Jax. I didn’t know exactly where I would end up—or whether Mexico would ever truly feel like home. Over the next six months, the journey took me through Mazatlán, Lo de Marcos, Mazamitla, Cajititlán, Ajijic and several other towns. Along the way, there were beautiful beaches, mountain towns, border worries, breakdowns, unexpected friendships, wild animals, new homes and plenty of mistakes.
