Greece; Athens; Zoo Part 3 (birds, dolphins, elephants) | UA: м. Афіни; Зоопарк частина 3 (птахи, дельфіни, слони) The Attica Zoological Park originally opened in 2000 as a bird park. At the time, it housed approximately 1,100 birds of 300 species, and the collection was considered one of the largest in the world. Today, the zoo features parrots, vultures, pheasants, pigeons, and many other exotic species. Visitors also enjoy bird flight demonstrations. A separate area is dedicated to dolphins. The first dolphins arrived at the park in 2010. Currently, the dolphin area is open to visitors during designated hours throughout the day. The Attica Zoo also participates in European programs for the care and conservation of bottlenose dolphins. Among the park's largest animals are Asian elephants. Two Asian elephants arrived at the zoo in December 2015. Today, they are among the park's most famous residents, and on weekends, visitors enjoy special feedings and stories from caretakers.
