We know her as the gentle Archeron sister, the one who loves flowers, baking, and quiet moments. But I've always wondered how much anger, grief, and frustration she might be hiding beneath all that softness. She lost the life she had chosen, the man she thought she'd marry, her humanity, and even the freedom to decide who her heart should belong to. And somehow, everyone still seems to have an opinion about what she should do next. “Let Me Choose” is my attempt to give a voice to all those feelings she rarely gets to express. Not because I think Elain is secretly perfect or that everyone should love her, but because I find the contrast between her gentle nature and everything she's been through really fascinating. 🌙 A little note about ACOSH: I wrote this song before reading A Court of Splintered Harmony (ACOSH), so there are absolutely NO ACOSH spoilers here! My biggest inspiration was actually that scene at the River House in A Court of Silver Flames (ACOSF), when Nesta and Elain argue and Elain finally shows a little of her claws. I LOVED that moment. 😂 It made me want to explore what might happen if all the things Elain has been holding back finally came pouring out. And just to be clear, this isn't an anti-Lucien song (I LOVE him) or a statement about who Elain should end up with.
