The roadway across the pass was completed in 1982, and has superseded the unpaved Mintaka and Kilik Passes as the primary passage across the Karakoram Range. The choice of Khunjerab Pass for Karakoram Highway was decided in 1966. I am just an ordinary girl from Cramlington-Newcastle travelling through Pakistan to experience the food, culture, hospitality and the love of beautiful people! I have been told all the stories about how dangerous Pakistan is, that I should not go there, are you crazy for wanting to go there? I wanted to see for myself. I built up the courage, applied for my Visa and booked my flights. People tried to persuade me not to go, I checked the UK Government travel advice the week of the trip. It told me I was not covered in a list of areas- the areas I was destined for. I am a Northern girl, I don't get scared easily. I took myself to London ready for my flight to Islamabad to let the adventure begin. My ambition is to share my experience with the world and specially show the western world the reality about Pakistan's culture and hospitality.
