The route also includes the Grand Canyon Diorama, bringing the landscapes and wildlife of the American West to the railway journey. Disneyland Railroad was designed with four stations: Main Street Station, Frontierland Depot, Fantasyland Station and Discoveryland Station. Currently, Fantasyland Station and Discoveryland Station are closed, with Main Street Station and Frontierland Depot operating for guests. All passengers disembark when the train reaches Main Street Station. Four steam-powered locomotives operate on the Disneyland Railroad, each named and themed around American history. W.F. Railways have been part of Disney history since before Disneyland opened. Walt Disney was a keen railway enthusiast and built the Carolwood Pacific Railroad at his home in California. The 1/8-scale railway began operating in 1950 and included the steam-powered Lilly Belle locomotive. Walt's interest in railways later became an important influence on Disneyland, where the original Disneyland Railroad opened with the park in California in 1955. Disneyland Park opened as Euro Disneyland on 12th April 1992 and includes Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Discoveryland, arranged around Sleeping Beauty Castle, Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant. Disneyland Paris is located east of Paris and includes Disneyland Park, Disney Adventure World, Disney Village and Disney Hotels. Disney Adventure World expanded significantly in 2026 with World of Frozen, Adventure Way and Adventure Bay joining Marvel Avengers Campus and Worlds of Pixar. Development continues with The Pride Lands, La Terre des Lions, a new themed land inspired by Disney's The Lion King.
