In 1 Peter 3:1–7, Peter brings the gospel into one of our closest relationships: marriage. The goal isn't simply to build a happier marriage, but to allow the transforming power of Jesus to shape the way husbands and wives love, honor, serve, forgive, and respond to one another. A Christian marriage should become a place where the gospel is visible to the people watching our lives.
As Jesus transforms us from the inside out, our everyday conduct becomes a witness. Peter calls wives and husbands to relationships marked by Christlike character, genuine honor, sacrificial love, and a shared dependence on God. Ultimately, a Christ-centered marriage should point beyond itself and say, “Look at Jesus.”
