In 2014, a 1,300-year-old wooden ski emerged from Norway’s melting ice. Seven years later, its missing partner appeared only five metres away—and preserved clues the first ski could no longer reveal. At the Digervarden ice patch in Reinheimen National Park, archaeologists recovered an extraordinary pair of prehistoric skis with surviving bindings, leather and signs of repair. The second ski was better preserved, allowing researchers to revisit how this ancient equipment had actually worked. A groove along its underside made one earlier explanation less likely: the skis probably had not been lined with fur. But another mystery remains. Who left valuable, repaired equipment on the mountain—and why? This documentary follows the 2014 discovery, the seven-year search, the careful 2021 recovery and the evidence that helped archaeologists reconsider the first ski. The owner’s identity and fate remain unknown.
