The Darkling & Alina | Am I a fool to love? (Book AU)

And then he was gone. i have no idea how i feel about this but if i had to work even a second more on this i would have lost my mind. soo season 2 was...bad. like genuinely terrible. not only the way they ruined alarkling but generally. the dialogue was atrocious. even the best acting couldn't help that script. like ben, bless his heart, tried his best to give the darkling something and he snuck in some of the most iconic alarkling lines but,, god what did the writers want (besides trying to get their shitty spin off greenlit)? but yeah let's get into alarkling. i loved them in the books and in the show. i know there's this annoying group of people that think people are into the darkling because of ben and yeah babes that not me! and yes alarkling is toxic and the darkling is bad in both mediums blah blah but show!darkling is so...pathetic compared to book!darkling? don't get me wrong i think the darkling screaming, crying, throwing up over alina the entire season is fun but that's just so different from how the darkling is in the books. and i missed that. i love how dark alarkling is in the books. i love how calculated and cruel the darkling is. i like how ambitious the darkling's feelings are and how complicated alinas feelings are towards him, his power and power generally. but the show said fuck complexity!! fuck alina's emotions! let's make her an ididot. like what do you mean "sacrifice beyond anything you've ever known"??? the darkling is 400+ years old but show!alina genuinely thinks that he hasn't suffered. and she somehow blames him for people hating grisha? what was this show thinking? season 1 explored the hatred against grisha a little bit but season 2 said fuck that!! like the grisha were hated before the darkling created the fold. the fold was quite literally created because he wanted to create an army because his people were getting slaughtered??????? sorry for the rant but i'm still mad lmao. anyways i did this because i miss book!alarkling. this is nothing against ben but i wanted a more book accurate darkling and i think timothée works quite well! he doesn't really any evil roles but i think the quiet nature of his roles in the king and dune works okay so yeah!
