Night of the Watchtower is a one-hour dark fantasy ambient journey through the last hours of a long night. Follow a solitary watchkeeper across the mountain pass as distant fires answer and something moves through the valley below. 00:00 — The Last Ember The watchkeeper tends a dying beacon. Beyond the tower, the mountains are silent, and no answering fire can be seen. 05:00 — Path Above the Clouds Carrying a lantern, the traveler leaves the tower and follows an old stone road above the clouds. The path is narrow; turning back would mean letting the fire die alone. 10:00 — The First Signal A flame appears on a distant peak. Someone has seen the warning—but the signal comes from farther away than the traveler expected. 15:00 — The Broken Gate The road ends at a shattered mountain gate. Its doors were forced open long ago, and the darkness beyond offers the only way forward. 20:00 — Rooms of Ash Inside, an empty hall holds the remains of a cold hearth. The chairs are still in place, as though everyone left in the middle of a meal. 25:00 — Signs Among the Pines The trail continues through the forest. Carved stones mark the way, but their warnings have weathered beyond recognition. 30:00 — Beneath the Foundation Steps descend into a chamber beneath the tower. A great bell hangs there in silence; the traveler cannot tell how long it has waited. 35:00 — The Second Beacon Another fire rises across the chasm. For a moment, two towers burn against the night, passing a warning from peak to peak. 40:00 — The Distant March Far below, a line of torches moves through the valley. From this height, there is no way to tell who carries them—or where they will stop. 45:00 — Before the Gate The traveler reaches the last fortified gate before dawn. The doors are closed. The lights in the valley keep coming. 50:00 — When the Stars Fade The watchkeeper waits beside a cold brazier as the stars disappear. The night has not answered every question, but it is finally ending. 55:00 — The First Light Sunlight crosses the mountains and reaches the tower. Its beacon is no longer needed.
