Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) day trip | By train from Caersws

Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) is where I spent many a happy childhood holiday playing on the beach and crabbing off the pier. It is still a thriving seaside resort on the fringes of the Snowdonia National Park. We had a perfect day out travelling from inland Mid Wales to Cardigan Bay. We went by train from Caersws to Machynlleth, and then onwards to Penhelyg station on the eastern edge of the town. The journey takes about an hour including a 10 minute wait for a second train at Machynlleth. After refreshments at The Penhelig Arms we wandered along the seafront and explored the town for several hours, eventually catching a return train home from Aberdyfi station at the western end of town.
