I Asked a Thai Girl to Show Me Khon Kaen 🇹🇭 Episode 8 of 77. Thailand has 77 provinces and I'm visiting all of them. The rules are simple: find a local girl to show me around, eat whatever she recommends and see what life is actually like there. I'm back in Khon Kaen for another episode, this time with Gan, a local girl who grew up in a rice-farming village in Isan. Her family couldn't afford her university education, so she took out a student loan, worked as an English tutor and eventually graduated from Khon Kaen University. Today she's showing me her version of the city. We visited her favorite café, explored the university campus, tried authentic Isan food, and I introduced her to Thai massage for the very first time. We also got caught in a tropical downpour and somehow ended up in a little Japan in the middle of Isan. Along the way, we talked about growing up in rural Thailand, education, money, work-life balance and why she prefers living in Khon Kaen over Bangkok.
