If you’re a graphic novelist, comic creator, or author-illustrator who feels overwhelmed by marketing, my course How to Launch Your Graphic Novel is designed to help you promote your work in a sustainable, realistic way. → Learn more about the course here: https://kidscomicsunite.com/how-to-la... In this Ask Me Anything session from May 30, 2026, I’m answering book marketing questions from Kids Comics Unite members. I talk about how to promote your book without burning out, what “free” marketing really costs, which paid marketing investments are most likely to be worth it, and how to think strategically about audience-building for children’s books, middle grade, graphic novels, and self-published projects. In this video, I cover: The best free promotional strategies for authors Why your website, newsletter, and social media should work together How to make your book easier to discover, understand, and recommend The paid marketing investments I’d prioritize before ads When it might make sense to hire help, take a course, or work with a coach Why I’d be cautious about paid promo sites like Freebooksy or BookBarbarian How to think about self-publishing or crowdfunding middle grade books Why middle grade marketing is different, because the reader often isn’t the buyer How to identify niche audiences for your book The basics of setting up school and library visits My main framework is to think about book promotion in three buckets: content, community, and connections. In other words: create useful assets, build relationships, and look for opportunities that make your book more visible to the right people. Whether you’re traditionally published, self-published, or still figuring out your path, I hope this conversation helps you. Work with me: https://kidscomicsunite.com/how-to-la...
