Painting an Evening Walk Beside a Blue Lake

I painted this evening lakeside landscape on canvas using acrylic paints. Two people walk along a path beneath orange foliage, with a blue lake and mountains beyond them. A challenge in this scene is making the mountains appear far away while keeping the nearby trees clear and distinct. The lighter mountain blues and stronger colors of the trees help create that sense of distance. With my palette visible, you can watch me mix the paints and see how the colors look when I apply them to the canvas. Watch the scene take shape through the brushwork.
