Building the Empire State | Rare Color Footage (1929–1931) | NYC Skyscraper History

Step back in time with rare color footage documenting the construction of the Empire State Building between 1929 and 1931 — one of the most iconic feats of American engineering and architecture. This historic film captures the daring work of ironworkers, engineers, and laborers, high above the streets of New York City, as they assemble what would become the tallest building in the world at the time. Against the backdrop of the Great Depression, this skyscraper came to symbolize not just the power of American industry, but hope and ambition in a difficult era. Featuring vibrant early Kodachrome or hand-tinted color, this footage offers an extraordinary view into how a modern marvel was built — beam by beam, floor by floor, and story by story. --- 🏙️ Empire State Building Facts (1929–1931): Height: 1,250 feet (381 meters) to the roof, 1,454 feet including antenna Construction time: Just 13 months Opened: May 1, 1931 Architects: Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Workers: Over 3,400 laborers, many of them Mohawk ironworkers and immigrants --- 📼 Source: Prelinger Archives via Internet Archive (Public Domain) 🌐 archive.org/details/prelinger --- 🔖 Tags & Keywords: #EmpireStateBuilding #NYCHistory #SkyscraperConstruction #PrelingerArchives #1920sFootage #ConstructionHistory #GreatDepression #HistoricNYC #PublicDomainFilm #AmericanEngineering --- 📺 Explore more historic and archival footage on our channel: 👉 Subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/@Worlddiscove... 👉 Browse more history films and documentaries:    • Archive | Αρχείο | 档案 | अभिलेखागार | Archi...   -- Dreams Become Real de Kevin MacLeod fait l'objet d'une licence Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
