Classic Old Time Radio: Vintage radio shows, the Golden Age of radio, murder, mystery, drama, comedy, sci-fi, westerns, audiobooks, BBC plays, adaptations, and dramas. BBC Radio's "The Lost World" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, starring Jamie Glover and Brian Robb. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's thrilling adventure novel, "The Lost World", was adapted for BBC Radio in "1997". The story follows the intrepid Professor Challenger (played by "Brian Blessed" in this adaptation, not Brian Robb, who was in the 2005 version), a brilliant but notoriously irascible scientist. Challenger announces his audacious claim that dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures still exist on a remote, unexplored plateau in South America. Faced with widespread skepticism and ridicule from the scientific establishment, he challenges a group of doubters to accompany him on an expedition to prove his claims. The expedition team consists of: "Professor Challenger" himself (Brian Blessed), the eccentric and determined leader. "Edward Malone" (played by "Jamie Glover"), a young, adventurous journalist who narrates the tale, initially joining to impress his beloved. "Lord John Roxton", a skilled hunter and adventurer (played by David Gwillim). "Professor Summerlee", a fellow academic and Challenger's academic rival (played by Peter Jeffrey). Their perilous journey takes them deep into the Amazon jungle, where they eventually discover the isolated plateau, a genuinely "lost world" teeming with living dinosaurs, pterodactyls, and primitive ape-men. The team faces numerous dangers, including prehistoric predators, hostile natives, and the very real possibility of being trapped on the plateau forever. The radio adaptation brings to life the classic adventure, focusing on the suspense, wonder, and terror of encountering creatures from a bygone era, as well as the clashing personalities within the expedition party. Jamie Glover's Malone provides the listener's entry point into this incredible journey.
