Captain Sim RAF S.E.5A – Aerobatic Display over Old Warden – Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Today we're taking Captain Sim's latest WWI fighter, the RAF S.E.5a up for a short aerobatic display over Burning Blue Design's fantastic Old Warden scenery, home to the Shuttleworth Collection, which includes among many other vintage airplanes a big collection of WWI planes, including an original S.E.5a. This is the fourth release from Captain Sim's WWI Collection and hopefully not their last. About their Sopwith Camel I said that it has the best visual model of WWI releases for MSFS so far. The S.E.5a is just as good. It's perfect down the last screw. The texture work is fantastic too, especially the wood and leather textures are incredibly realistic. The flight model feels very similar to Captain Sims other WWI aircraft It's fun to fly and it certainly fits a WWI era aircraft. For instance, during turns the rudder is more important than ailerons, which is true for many early aircraft designs. Like Captain Sim's other WWI fighter the soundset is the one from the OX-5 of Inibuilds/Microsoft's Curtiss Jenny. I think at the price point it's ok and it fits much better to the S.E.5a than to the Camel, but it of course doesn't sound like a Hisso engine. Like Captain Sim's other WWI fighters, the S.E.5a is very fairly priced. If you expect a study level aircraft with an 100% authentic flight model, this isn't for you. But if you are looking for a highly accurate flight model with a close enough, enjoyable, flight model you're going to enjoy this one. Thanks for watching!
