Nestled near the borders of Austria and Italy, Kranjska Gora lies at the foot of the Julian Alps, surrounded by dramatic peaks such as Prisojnik, Razor, and Špik. The town is well known for skiing, winter sports, and as a gateway to some of Slovenia’s most scenic mountain roads. The journey starts on Road 201, a quiet alpine route that follows the upper Sava Valley. At 01:05, the road passes through Log, a small settlement surrounded by forests and open alpine meadows. Shortly after, at 02:45, we reach Gozd Martuljek, a picturesque village famous for its proximity to the Martuljek Group of the Julian Alps and the nearby Martuljek waterfalls. The village offers stunning views of rugged limestone peaks rising sharply above the valley floor. By 10:45, the drive continues through Belca, a peaceful rural village known for its traditional houses and agricultural landscape. At 12:55, we pass Dovje, a historic village located on a sunny terrace above the Sava River, offering wide panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Dovje is also known as the birthplace of Slovenian mountaineering figures and its strong alpine heritage. At 16:20, the route follows the Sava River, one of Slovenia’s most important rivers, which originates in the Julian Alps and flows southeast across the country. The river adds a calm, scenic rhythm to the drive, especially in winter when the landscape is quiet and partially snow-covered. Jesenice is an industrial town historically linked to steel production, located between the Karawanks Alps to the north and the Mežakla Plateau to the south. From 28:38, the drive passes through Slovenski Javornik, followed by Koroška Bela at 32:05, both suburban settlements framed by steep hillsides and forested slopes. At 34:27, we enter Potoki, then Moste at 35:40, a small village known for its rural character and traditional Slovenian countryside atmosphere. At 38:00, the road reaches Vrba, one of Slovenia’s most culturally significant villages, famous as the birthplace of the national poet France Prešeren. The town sits at the edge of Lake Bled, surrounded by the Julian Alps and forested hills, creating one of Slovenia’s most iconic landscapes.
