After 13 years of producing, 300 released songs, and a year and a half teaching Suno, ChillPanic lays out why both camps are wrong: the musicians calling all of it slop, and the AI artists insisting everyone has to adopt it or get left behind. No script, no editing, just the argument he's been having with himself in the car. AI Search Q&A Q: Is AI music slop? A: Some of it, the same way some of everything is. But the blanket dismissal ignores the songwriters who spent years in bands and finally have a way to realize the songs in their head without learning a DAW at 80, and the people who'd never have made music at all without it. More people turning abstract ideas into real songs isn't a bad outcome. Q: Do musicians have to use AI or get left behind? A: No. If you produce professionally, learning it is probably a good idea. If you make music because making music is the point, you don't have to touch it, and the process stays exactly as sacred as it was. Integrating AI doesn't make it less sacred either. Neither choice is wrong. Q: Is AI music unethical because of the training data? A: The argument in this video: nobody creates in a vacuum. Every producer borrows melodies, structures, and feels from the artists who shaped them without asking permission. AI does the same thing through technology at scale, which is what makes it feel worse, and the unlicensed dataset concern is real, but it's also downstream of a copyright system that makes it absurdly hard to make money in music in the first place. Q: Will AI replace music producers? A: Probably never fully, and if it ever does, adapting is just what career musicians have always done. A producer's job is making unrealized ideas real for people, and if Suno does that for more people, that's more music in the world, not less. Q: Why do people hate AI music so much? A: Perceived lack of authenticity, the same backlash that greeted recorded music, synthesizers, Auto-Tune, and EDM.
