Two medieval military orders grew wealthy and powerful during the Crusades. In the early 1300s, the Knights Templar were abolished. The Knights Hospitaller survived the loss of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta—and the order still exists today.
This video traces how politics, geography and the ability to find a new purpose led them down different paths.
Written, narrated and edited by me in DaVinci Resolve. Historical artwork and photographs are used as illustrations; some were created centuries after the events they depict.
