Jared B. Jordan String Quartet No. 2: "The 4000 Mile River" This string quartet represents a very long river's journey throughout all of the different areas, and climates it encounters. I: Dance of the Raging River The first movement represents an unrelentless, class VI, turbulent white-water part of the river that is incredibly dangerous and treacherous. II: Time(s) The second movement represents the different areas at different times that a long river can pass through and it represents a part of the river that is constantly twisting and turning many different directions. III: Poco A Poco Precipitation The third movement represents small rain showers that go over the river and how as you go further along, the rain grows more intense. poco a poco means little by little or gradually and that shows the rain's slow increase in intensity. IV: Estuary The final movement represents the end of a river where it meets an ocean and they mix together, creating new life. The beginning of the movement starts off with a new, calming melody that sounds like up and down movement to illustrate a picture of ocean waves, the melody from the beginning eventually comes back and mixes with the ocean to create something new and lively.
