Sometimes loneliness begins even when the people around you haven’t changed. You can still belong, still be included, and still feel as though the version of you that once fit perfectly no longer feels like home.
Through a Jungian lens, this video explores six signs that loneliness may be accompanying a deeper psychological or spiritual transition. Carl Jung’s concept of individuation offers a way to understand what can happen when an old identity begins losing its authority before a more differentiated sense of self has fully formed.
We explore the Persona, the Shadow, changing relationships, the discomfort of being caught between an old identity and a new one, and why solitude can reveal parts of yourself that adaptation kept hidden.
But this isn’t an argument for isolation. The deeper question is whether your loneliness is helping you become more conscious and capable of authentic connection—or simply pulling you further away from people.
Because mature individuation isn’t about needing nobody. It’s about learning how to remain yourself without disappearing inside belonging.
