The Uncanny Omar on the Comics He Can’t Stop Recommending | UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Omar is an influencer, in the one sense of the word that still carries something beautiful. His channel, Near Mint Condition, means a lot to so many people all over the world. His love for some of the characters he mentions in the video is, of course, clear from the beginning, but if you watch any review of his, you can clearly see a reverence for the art of comics that comes from a much deeper place, whether it’s remembering every artist at the tip of his tongue or the sheer excitement when those works get valued through collected editions worthy of their achievements. Omar is the voice of this community, much in the sense that he also gets things done. His yearly polls have gotten so many omnibuses printed and out-of-stock stories back into people’s hands, you might as well call him a librarian. While browsing the shelves of Walt’s Comic Shop, of course he picked some X-Men, but he also let us a little further into his journey of letting go and returning to it, a feeling that is central to anyone who has spent decades reading these stories.
