Children’s Rights and Access to Justice: Why has Sweden not ratified the UN complaints procedure of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)?
This video contains English subtitles embedded in the video
Rebecca Thorburn Stern, Professor of Public International Law at Uppsala University, and Visiting Professor of Human Rights at the Faculty of Law at Lund University, looks at why Sweden has not ratified the UN protocol that allows children to submit complaints about violations of their rights to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. She explains the main reasons behind this decision and what it means for children’s access to justice and their rights in practice.
This seminar is part of the Human Rights Lunch Online seminar series, organized monthly by the Human Rights Profile Area at Lund University (Sweden).
