https://bsky.app/profile/mayde.bsky.s... heyooo everybody im still alive and im making things hahaha yeah anyways I am REALLY proud of this. i bought an acoustic drumkit a few months back, and this is the first time ive actually managed to track something out and mix it into something. for the longest time ive thought about putting drums to my music, but ive never liked the sound of sequencing samples and all that. wound up buying a second-hand kit for cheap and spent a while trying to figure out how i would record an entire kit with only 2 microphones. figured out a decent compromise and im pretty happy with where it's at right now. im not a drummer at all so this may not be consistent but i can finally say that ive fulfilled the roles of an entire band now. i also moved from audacity to reaper for mixing my music stuff. i think i'll continue to record things in audacity just for the convenience of being able to open it and track some stuff roughly, but bring it over to reaper when i feel like it's getting more serious i really love this song, it took me a while to get into New Abnormal but it's just genuinely an amazing album altogether. i wanted to sing this song in particular, so i learned the song by ear and wound up improvising a lot of it on my own instead. figured if im gonna do a cover, i might as well add some of my own playing style into it instead of trying to copy 1:1 the original. i also noticed that this song had a very similar chord progression and guitar melody to "you talk way too much", and decided that i should throw in some lines from that song for fun. for the image, i was heavily inspired by the album cover art by Jean-Michel Basquiat, but i wanted to approach it in the same way that i approach my music for a change. i sketched and inked my character traditionally and scanned it. i did the coloring digitally, but for all of the weird background effects, i actually found stuff from around the house and put them through my scanner.
