I set myself one rule: same budget, same categories, three months living in the Philippines, three months living in Vietnam — no shortcuts, no sponsorships, no tourist mode. Just real rent, real food, real visas, real bad days.
Everyone online has an opinion on Philippines vs Vietnam for expats and digital nomads — which one's cheaper, which one's easier, which one's "better." So I tested both myself, back to back, under identical conditions, and tracked everything: housing, food, transport, internet, healthcare, and the hidden costs nobody talks about.
What I found surprised me. The country that looks easier on paper isn't always the one that's easier to actually live in — and the results completely depend on what you're optimizing for.

⚖️ A full side-by-side comparison across cost, safety, convenience, and quality of life
🎯 A priority-based answer for who should actually choose which country
If you're considering moving abroad, becoming a digital nomad, or just curious how these two Southeast Asian countries really compare, this one's for you.
