In 1962, a tractor millionaire drove to Ferrari HQ to report a $10 clutch problem. Enzo Ferrari insulted him instead — and accidentally created his worst enemy.
Ferruccio Lamborghini wasn't a peasant. He built tractors from WWII scrap and became a multi-millionaire, then bought a garage full of Ferrari 250 GTs. But the clutch kept failing, and when he opened it up, he found the exact same cheap part he used in his tractors.
He drove to Maranello to share the fix. Enzo Ferrari's answer: "Go back to your mud and drive your tractors."
That insult started a 50-year war of pride, V12 engines, and pure Italian spite — and gave the world the Lamborghini 350 GTV and the Miura.
