*Alexander Pichushkin**, a Russian serial killer influenced by a childhood head injury and taunting from peers, began a **reign of terror* in Moscow's Bitsevski Park by murdering his initial accomplice, Mikhail, in 1992\. Over the course of twelve years, he *stalked and bludgeoned* acquaintances and local residents with a hammer, utilizing underground drainage tunnels to conceal bodies and later leaving victims in plain sight with a beer bottle lodged in their skulls as a signature mark. Despite initial police inaction and ignored missing person reports, investigators eventually *traced crucial evidence**—including a train ticket and a personal letter—back to Pichushkin following the murder of a woman named Marina in 2006\. Upon his arrest, Pichushkin **confessed to numerous homicides**, revealing that his ultimate objective was to match the **64 squares on a chess board**, having marked off 62 boxes for his victims. Ultimately convicted in October 2007, he was sentenced to **life imprisonment without the possibility of parole* for his gruesome crimes.
