I found a hidden cloth factory in Nigeria, and I got to see how Aso Oke is made up close.
Aso Oke, which means “cloth from the hinterland,” is the famous handwoven cloth of the Yoruba people. It’s woven in narrow strips on a traditional loom, then stitched together, and it’s worn at weddings, naming ceremonies, and chieftaincy events. The craft dates back to around the 15th century, and it’s still done in Yoruba towns like Iseyin, Oyo, and Ibadan.
In this video, I take you inside [name/location of the factory] to see [what you saw: the looms, the weavers, the colors, the finished cloth, anything that surprised you]. Most people wear Aso Oke without ever seeing where it comes from, so I wanted to show you.
📍 [Location], Ibadan, Oyo State
