The bypass connecting the Thimmapuram–Madhavapatnam–Cheediga–Kovvada–Chollangi side is being developed to divert heavy vehicles and port-bound traffic away from congested city roads. According to recent reports, around 95% of the bypass work has been completed, with final works including road markings, signage and other finishing works progressing. The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity towards Kakinada Port, Yanam, Amalapuram and NH-216, while reducing travel time through the city.
