Forging an acorn. Read the description.

Forging an acorn keyring using a swage. I was making these 2 at a time, alternating heats, working on one whilst the other was heating up. I was making these at a fairly low heat to avoid lots of forge scale developing on the acorn that was in the fire whilst I was working on the other. I stopped working on them before the heat died to avoid stress fractures at the transition from the acorn to the stem. The excess at the tip of the acorn is because the metal has to go somewhere so I created a channel for it to escape through - I trim this off. I find this quicker and easier than trying to get the position of the hot bar exactly right inside the swage.
