BBC Records And Tapes - Steam In Stereo

A break away from my usual "content", I found this record in an antiques shop for £3 a few months ago when life was amazing before all the brightness and colour was ripped away. I'm not in any way a rail enthusiast, but sounds effects and BBC releases intrigue me greatly, so this purchase was a serious no brainer. Linking the correct text description to each individual track has been a real challenge and took a few attempts, but now it's complete...it's far easier to follow these 50 year old recordings than just putting the record on. From what I can make out, all the recordings were made on 31st August 1975 in the north of England (puzzling when the last five minutes of side 2 are from Kent, London and Reading) and released by BBC Records And Tapes in 1976. The recordings are a selection of the sounds heard on this unique occasion although not every Locomotive taking part is included. This is a representative selection, considering quality and variety of sound. The recordings were made at six different locations during the day.
