Pasquale Grasso - "Gone with the Wind" LIVE @ Zinc Bar 4.29.24

Pasquale Grasso performs "Gone with the Wind" at Zinc Bar #zincbar in Greenwich Village for the Guitar Masters Festival on Monday April 29, 2024. Meet the modern evolution of jazz guitar - PASQUALE GRASSO! I call him Joe Pass 2.0, but he is so much more. He combines the best traits of Joe Pass, Tal Farlow, and Bud Powell all wrapped in one! Grasso may be the best bebop style player alive today. In 2016 Pat Metheny told Vintage Guitar magazine that Grasso was “the best guitar player I’ve heard in maybe my entire life.” He has developed a prodigious technique that he has applied to chord melody playing for classic jazz standards. He uses alternate picking, sweep picking, and hybrid picking so emotionally and cleanly with sheets of cascading rapid-fire notes intertwined with beautiful slow voice leadings, and sustained chordal structures. Pasquale Grasso is an Italian-born guitarist and grew up in the Campania region of Italy, but moved to New York City in 2012. This is the 43rd installment of my "Great Performances" series, where I upload my own personal LIVE footage from past concerts of great musical artists I've covered either through written articles and/or direct interviews.
