Mind fabricating defilement, defilement fabricating mind :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 4 Jan 2025

"when the mind fabricates things on its own naturally, there's no need to suppress it. It's not wrong. If the mind fabricates happiness, know it. If it fabricates suffering, know it. If it fabricates neither happiness nor suffering, know it. If it fabricates wholesome states, know it. If it fabricates greed, anger, delusion, restlessness, or torpor, know it. Whatever it fabricates, that's up to it. Your job is simply to be aware with a normal mind. If you practice continuously until your mind becomes normal, you'll be able to easily distinguish these fabrications. If your mind has never been clear, if you've never experienced a normal mind, then you won't know what a normal mind is. When you don't know what a normal mind is, you won't be able to distinguish between what's foreign to the mind and what they are. If you have a normal mind, you'll see that foreign things come and go. But if you fabricate your mind, if your mind is already contaminated by your intentional fabrications, then when other fabrications arise, you won't be able to distinguish them. You won't know if this is the mind fabricating phenomena, or if you're fabricating the mind. These two are different. The mind fabricating defilements, and defilements fabricating the mind. If you observe carefully, you'll see that there are two types. One type is when you don't intentionally fabricate, but fabrications arise anyway. They arise out of the mind's habitual patterns."
