History
The history of the famous Mrikula Devi temple at Udaipur in the Lahaul Valley is associated with the exile period of the Pandavas during the Dwapara era. Built at an altitude of 2623 meters above sea level, this temple is known for its amazing style and wood carving. Here, mother, Kali is worshipped in the form of eight arms of Mahishasura Mardini. This temple is built in Kashmiri Kannauj style. It is believed that after killing Mahishasura, mother Kali had kept a blood-shed here. This khapar is still kept behind the main idol of Mata Kali here. It is banned by devotees. People believe that if someone sees this khapar even by mistake, it becomes blind.
STONE
There is a stone of a quintal weight in the temple courtyard, which is hard to sweat even when lifting. It is said that five or seven people can shake or lift this stone with a middle finger very easily with the cheers of the mother with a sincere heart. The priest states that this stone was placed for Bhima. Bhima used to eat all the food of the Pandavas, in such a way, he would give them one time meal equal to the weight of this stone so that others could also have something to eat.
