Japan has vintage toys you simply don't see back home. This time we're heading deep into Den Den Town in Osaka, Japan to visit Jungle, a multi-level Japanese collectibles store packed with vintage toys, giant robots, Gundam, model kits, anime collectibles, video games, and some seriously rare pieces of Japanese toy history. And this might be one of the best stores we've visited in Japan yet. Almost immediately, Scott finds himself surrounded by the Japanese robots and toy lines that helped shape an entire generation—including Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendizer, Macross, Robotech, Voltron, Gundam, Shogun Warriors, and more. But there's an interesting history behind these toys. Many of the Japanese cartoons and characters eventually made their way to America during the late '70s and '80s, sometimes heavily edited or completely rewritten for Western audiences. Some of the toys came with them. Others never did. That makes seeing the original Japanese figures, packaging, and characters together in one store an incredible experience for a vintage toy collector. Then we stumble across something Scott definitely wasn't expecting: Dino-Riders. Finding a vintage Dino-Riders Tyrannosaurus Rex is difficult enough in the United States—so discovering one sitting inside a toy store in Osaka immediately gets our attention. The question is whether it's good enough to make the trip back to America... Along the way we explore an incredible selection of vintage Japanese toys, jumbo robots, mecha, Macross Valkyries, Gundam model kits, Armored Core, anime collectibles, dioramas, and pieces Scott has rarely—or never—seen before.
