Griffel’s career began at NYU, where he double majored in philosophy and finance (the first guest to study either major and to attend NYU). Beginning his career in 2010 as Head of Marketing at appssavvy, he led company-wide marketing initiatives before founding The Front Labs in 2011, a product-focused incubation lab in New York. In 2013, he co-founded One Month (YC ‘13), serving as CEO and later Chairman through 2021, building it into an online learning platform focused on accelerated technical and entrepreneurial skill development. He went on to co-found Ophelia (YC ‘19) in 2019, where he served as President and COO through 2023 and now continues as Board Observer, while also taking on senior advisory and executive roles at Invisible. Alongside his operating work, he has been involved in academia at Columbia Business School, where he became an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in 2025. He is currently completing his MBA at Columbia while continuing his work in AI, healthcare, and entrepreneurship education. Further, Griffel is the third NJ native on the podcast!
