After a few personnel changes, Public Figure curated their final lineup in February of 2024. This consisted of adding drummer John Faist and guitar player Robert (RJ) Klingsporn. These two were longtime bandmates together in another Omaha-based band. Lastly, they found Roger Slatten via a Reddit post on r/Omaha titled "Where my singers at?". One week before their first show with the new lineup, Roger's house (the band's practice space) was hit by an EF-4 tornado while Roger was home, nearly claiming his life. The band came together closer than ever and played the show the next week despite the odds. Since then they have had the opportunity to tour across the country in over 18 states. Sharing the stage with acts such as Fuel, Boys Like Girls, Good Terms, and Out in Front. They have no plans of slowing down and continue to tour and build their base all as far as they can reach. Our Why: There is nothing quite as effective at meeting someone where they are as music. It is a universal language. We believe that putting ourselves into music and sharing that with the world is our purpose in this life. Our music comes from our life experiences, formed in ways that others can relate to and feel like they can resonate with. We describe ourselves as emo pop-punk rooted in Human and Mother Nature. Our name comes from checking band name ideas on the internet to see if they were already taken. We noticed that below every band name was "public figure" written in the description. That was the through line between so many of the people we looked up to. The idea of a public figure seemed so intriguing. What makes someone want to be a public figure? What should we expect from a public figure? We believe that a public figure should strive to bring people together and make the world a better place. So we put this title upon ourselves in a way to hold us to a standard that we wish all public figures would hold themselves. We strive to put music out into the world that can connect with others and share the experiences and curiosities that make us human.
