Learn to play the Parting Glass on the tin whistle - easy beginner lesson

In this lesson, I will teach you a beautiful and iconic farewell song: The Parting Glass. This is Part 1 of our lesson, where we focus purely on mastering the basic melody. ☘️ The Story Behind the Song ☘️ While it has become deeply associated with Ireland, "The Parting Glass" actually has strong Scottish roots, with early versions of the lyrics appearing in the early 1600s. For centuries, it was the most popular parting song sung at the end of gatherings, right up until "Auld Lang Syne" came along! Today, it remains a powerful, emotional ballad of farewell, reflection, and good company—and its sweeping melody sounds absolutely gorgeous on the tin whistle. In this video, you’ll find: ☘️ On-screen tabs to guide you through every note of the basic tune. (Need a quick refresher? You can find a guide on how to read the tabs on my website https://www.happywhistling.com) ☘️ Slow-paced walkthroughs to help you build muscle memory ☘️ “+” signs to clearly indicate when to jump into the upper octave. ☘️ Happy Whistling tabs to help you visualise the duration of each note. ☘️ Part 2 ☘️ Once you are comfortable with the basics of the tune, get ready to take it to the next level.
