There was a mine disaster at the union colliery on the 4th September 1902 were four miners died. There is a memorial to them which you will see in the video. There are many mines in the Forest Of Dean and i only seen just a small amount of them im going back to film a part 2. Mining is still a way of life in the forest its called FREEMINING its an ancient tittle given to coal or iron miners. The freemining is a unique tradition spanning hundreds of years.
