The land on which their Hatigaon residence was built belonged to his father. His father later sold the land to a builder. As part of the agreement with the builder, a house was subsequently allotted/provided to his father. According to Ramanuj's statement to police, an argument between the couple began on the morning of Thursday, September 3. Police say Ramanuj alleged that he suspected Riya of having an extramarital relationship, and this was reportedly one of the issues behind their repeated quarrels. The argument allegedly continued until the early hours of the following day. During the confrontation, Ramanuj allegedly lost his temper and at***ed Riya.
