Robots built the base. Humans flew seven months to get there. Then the first child was born on Mars — and Earth became a place he could see but never visit. A short science-fiction story about the first generation born on another planet. The story is imagined. The numbers are real: Mars gravity is 0.38 g, a message to Earth takes 3 to 22 minutes one way, a launch window opens every 26 months, and NASA's MOXIE really made oxygen from Martian air. This is imagination, not prediction. What do you think comes next? Tell us in the comments. "Permanently unfit for Earth" is a thought experiment; how children would grow in low gravity is still unknown. Earth–Mars distances shown are from a simplified orbit model and vary in reality (about 55 to 400 million km). 3D models and robots are stylised. Music and sound effects are original, made for this video. Narration voice is synthetic.
