Marienel wanted to learn German not because she was planning to relocate, but because she wanted to feel more confident and independent when traveling through German-speaking countries.
Before joining German Fluency Academy, she knew one thing for certain: she didn't want to spend years trying to piece together her own lessons from different resources. She wanted a clear structure, guidance, and a practical way to start speaking German.
Just weeks after joining, she decided to take on our Community challenge: completing a 10-minute German role-play with a native speaker.
What makes her story particularly special is that, until then, she hadn't even told her German friend she was learning the language. But as her pronunciation improved and her confidence grew, she decided to involve her friend in the challenge. After practicing their scripted conversation together, her friend identified just five words that needed pronunciation correction!
In this live student case study, we talk about Marienel's first weeks inside German Fluency Academy, what helped her build confidence so early in her learning journey, and how she went from keeping her German learning private to actually practicing with a native speaker.
You'll also hear an excerpt from her German role-play and see the progress she's already made.
If you're learning German because you love traveling to Germany, Austria, or Switzerland and want to do more than just get by in English, Marienel's story is a great example of how you can start building real speaking confidence from the very beginning, without waiting years to put your German into practice.
