Mobile-Pensacola Gulf Coast forecast: Heavy rain lingers, quieter midweek, Gulf tropical potential late week
Periods of rain will continue across the Gulf Coast into early Monday, with localized flooding still possible near the coast. Conditions improve through midweek, but attention then turns to the southwestern Gulf, where a low may develop and bring another round of heavy rain somewhere along the Gulf Coast next weekend.
IN THIS FORECAST:
Temperatures stay near the low 80s Monday, then low to mid 80s through midweek
Heavy rain and localized flooding remain possible tonight into early Monday
Rain coverage gradually decreases Monday, followed by a mainly dry Tuesday through Thursday
Drier-feeling air may arrive by Thursday with somewhat cooler nights
Rip current concerns may increase again later this week
A possible Gulf low could bring heavy rain to parts of the Gulf Coast next weekend, but track and intensity remain uncertain
TONIGHT: Bands of moderate to heavy rain continue, especially near the coast and across northwest Florida. Flash flooding remains possible in poor-drainage areas, and a brief waterspout near the coast cannot be ruled out.
MONDAY: Scattered showers and a few storms may linger, but rain coverage should gradually decrease. Expect mostly cloudy skies, highs near the low 80s and a northerly to northeasterly breeze.
MIDWEEK: Tuesday through Thursday should be much quieter with mainly dry conditions and some sunshine. Drier air may arrive by Thursday, helping nighttime temperatures feel a little cooler.
LATE WEEK: Attention turns to the southwestern Gulf, where an area of low pressure may form. Development is possible, but there is still no organized system to track and confidence in exact track or intensity remains low.
WEEKEND: Heavy rain may become the main concern somewhere along the Gulf Coast. Some forecast guidance shows very high rainfall totals, but the exact placement is still uncertain and will depend heavily on how any Gulf low develops and tracks.
A regional radar communications outage also continues to limit some publicly available high-resolution radar data, although National Weather Service meteorologists can still monitor much of the affected radar information internally.
