Watch history roar back to life as the Nevada Northern Railway (NNRY) fires up its legendary 100-ton, coal-fired Steam Wrecking Crane "A"! 🚂💨
Built in 1907 by Industrial Works of Bay City, Michigan, this incredible machine was the ultimate heavy-lifter of the railroad world. Weighing in with a massive 100-ton lifting capacity, it was originally used to clear derailed trains, re-rail massive locomotives, and handle the heaviest jobs out on the line. Crane A even traveled with its own dedicated "wreck train," acting as the railroad’s heavy-duty emergency responder for nearly a century.
Today, it stands as one of the last operational coal-fired, steam-powered wrecking cranes in all of North America! In this video, we get an up-close look at the incredible engineering, raw power, and roaring steam pressure it takes to operate this 115+ year-old mechanical giant.
