قصيدة الحجرة النبوية الشريفة السلطان عبد الحميد الأول Al-Qaṣīdah al-Ḥujriyyah The Qaṣīdah al-Ḥujriyyah (The Chamber Poem) was composed by Sultan Abdülhamid I, son of Sultan Ahmed III, in 1191 AH. Sultan Abdülhamid I was the 27th Ottoman Sultan, born on 20 March 1725 to Sultan Ahmed III and Sultan Şermi Hanım. He was also known for his proficiency in Arabic poetry and literature. He composed this poem in the Baḥr al-Basīṭ and dedicated to the Prophet ﷺ. Because his sincerity and his profound love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the poem was deemed worthy of being inscribed on the noble enclosure surrounding the Prophet’s ﷺ Sacred Chamber (al-Hujrah al-Sharifah). Thus it became known as al-Qaṣīdah al-Ḥujriyyah (The Chamber Poem). The account of the poem is preserved in the old Turkish work Mir’āt al-Ḥaramayn (The Mirror of the Two Holy Sanctuaries) by Ayyub Sabri Pasha. The poem also gained widespread acceptance among those devoted to the Prophet ﷺ and was subsequently included in collections of awrād and adhkār, including Majmūʿat al-Aḥzāb by Shaykh Ḍiyāʾ al-Dīn al-Kamūshkhānawī. ————————— The background image shows the northern façade of the Prophet’s ﷺ Sacred Chamber, which lies adjacent to Dikkat al-Aghwāt. The Qaṣīdah al-Ḥujriyyah can be seen inscribed along the upper part of the walls.
