"Jo-Namagashi" is traditional Japanese sweet that are most often associated with wagashi. They are made of rice flour and a sweet bean paste filling, and are delicately shaped by hand to reflect the season. In this time, I made a Jo-Namagashi shaped a flower, "Asagao(Mornig glory)" Morning glories were originally introduced to Japan as a medicinal plant, laxative to be precise, some 1200 years ago. In the Edo era (1615-1868), the morning glory became loved broadly as a flower of the common people of Japan, and it appears in haiku, joururi, kabuki, and so on. Today, we grow morning glories in elementary schools. #wagashi #和菓子 #japanesefood #japaneseculture #朝顔 #flowers #あさがお #スイーツ #お菓子作り
